Galaxy NGC 4565
Our own Professor Stanford contributes this week's photo of NGC 4565. Sometimes called the "needle" galaxy, 4565 is an
edge-on island of stars in Coma Berenices. Other galaxies lie far beyond our own Milky Way, and light from the needle traveled 31,000,000 years before reaching CSM campus.

This image is a mere 5 minutes of data, processed in CCDStack software. This is Professor Stanford's first image through the 20" RC telescope. Rumor has it, he's after M104 next.  Stay tuned.
