Student Learning Outcomes
- Student will configure assistive technology to meet individual needs.

- Student will demonstrate using assistive technology to access computer applications.
Topics to be covered:
- Reading with Kurzweil and using Bookmarks
- Kurzweil Toolbars and Basic Scanning
- Highlighting
- Extracting to an Outline and to Column Notes
- Kurzweil as a writing tool - brainstorming, spell check, word prediction
- Reading the Internet with Kurzweil (Mozilla's Firefox)
Requirements:
- Class attendance (40 points)
- Assignments (35 points)
- Final Project (25 points)
Class materials will be provided.
Class Procedures:
- Lecture and demonstration will be given during your scheduled class time. It is very important that you attend all classes. Please schedule your work hours and other appointments accordingly.
- If you are unable to attend class, please phone 574-6432 at any time and leave a message. You can make up the work during open lab hours or during another scheduled Kurzweil class.
- In order to become proficient in using the computer, you should spend time outside of your class time practicing what you’ve learned in class. Computers are available during Open Lab hours. Computers with Kurzweil are also available in the Library and Reading Center during regular open hours, including some evenings. For details, see Carolyn or Sue.
Open Lab Hours
The ATC lab is open for independent work in the afternoons, Monday through Thursday until 3:00, Wednesdays until 7:30 pm. There are classes in the mornings so check for computer availability.
The lab is open Friday mornings from 8:00 to 12:00.
