Research indicates that LGBT youth face unique barriers that often negatively impact learning and overall success in life. This workshop will explore the unique challenges the LGBT community faces and what can be done to address those concerns. Our discussion will include: strategies to support a student who comes out to you, vocabulary, resources and an opportunity for participants to ask questions and share experiences.

Doing What Matters: Making Connections for

In this session, participants will begin to create a shared vision for student success at CSM. Campus initiatives will be discussed, as well as the importance of the affective domain in student’s academic success. Participants will be enabled to develop strategies for working across campus, moving from silos to synergy. The luncheon is sponsored by the Academic Support and Learning Technologies Division. One-hour conversation with practicing CSM Supplemental Instruction (SI) program leaders to help in understanding what SI is (and is not) and how it will help with student academic success and retention. Plan out how to get program pieces in place to have your SI program for Fall 2014.
