Restorative Yoga Workshop with John Rettger
Join Open Heart Yoga in a Restorative Yoga Workshop with John Rettger. John Rettger is a graduate of Yoga Tree San Francisco’s 200-hour teacher training program where he studied under the guidance of Les Leventhal, Elise Lorimer, Stacey Rosenberg, Christopher Tompkins, Jason Crandell, Jane Austin, and his mentor, Darren Main among many other amazing teachers.
He is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with the Yoga Alliance. John’s teaching and practice are influenced by yoga philosophy, as well as his research on psychospiritual integration in the context of mindfulness and yoga-based approaches to stress reduction and well-being enhancement. John received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in 2011. John is a cofounder and teacher at Blue Elephant Yoga & Mindfulness Center in Palo Alto, CA.
Restorative Yoga works to cultivate wholesome states of relaxation, thus harmonizing the mind and body. Restorative Yoga postures are held for extended periods of time to facilitate a gentle opening of the body and a fuller emotional experience of the present moment. Students will learn breathing and relaxation practices that aim to lower the heart rate and blood pressure as well as disrupt habitual patterns of thought.
We will use props such as blankets, bolsters, blocks, and sandbags. Bring warm layers, a yoga mat and a water bottle. We will meet in the Small Gym of Building 8 on the College of San Mateo campus.
Purchase your ticket either online presale or with cash at the door.
