CSM's Digital Media Department offers hands-on career training and transfer courses in Broadcast & Electronic Media, Graphic Design, Journalism, and Web Design (formerly known as Multimedia). Students choose an area of concentration in Digital Media. For degree, certificate, and course information on each concentration at CSM, use the links below. Broadcast & Electronic Media
This concentration offers training in state-of-the-art TV studio and digital TV field production. It also provides training in the following areas: audio, lighting, editing, producing, writing, and on-air work.

Graphic Design
This highly technical craft and art-related major prepares students for careers in the visual communications industry.
With the convergence of media, multimedia job opportunities continue to grow.

Journalism
Individuals with a background in journalism have a wide variety of career opportunities working for advertising agencies, corporate communications divisions, magazines, news agencies, newspapers, publishing companies, and radio/television stations.

Web Design (Multimedia)
Through hands-on creation, students apply theoretical knowledge and design skills to experience the multimedia
production process.

Prerequisite Checking
When you attempt to register for a DGME class, if you get a message "you do not meet the course prerequisite" and you believe you have the required skills and background to succeed in the class, you can print and fill out a prerequisite challenge form at collegeofsanmateo.edu/prerequisites or go directly to the Creative Arts and Social Science Division Office, College Center Building 10, Room 413 and ask for assistance. Our staff will assist you in registration for the course.
