CHIN 680 This Chinese language course is designed for students who are interested in travel and doing international business with Chinese-speaking societies, including China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Students will develop language competency in Chinese communities and actual business situations and learn commonly used travel and commercial terms, phrases, sentence patterns, signs, idioms, and oral communication skills.
SPCH 150 The intercultural communication course Speech 150 focuses on the relationship between communication and culture and cultural components of life between the United States and Chinese-speaking societies, including cultural and worked-related values, verbal and non-verbal differences, conflict resolution, and negotiation practices. The course emphasizes sensitivity, empathy, and skills required for intercultural competence.
Recommended Preparation: eligibility for ENGL 100. Students must enroll in both CHIN 680 JA and SPCH 150 JA sections as paired.
