Workforce Development

Overview

College of San Mateo’s Workforce Development division collaborates with campus partners, employers, and regional consortia to build high-quality Career Education (CE) programs that respond to labor market needs, advance workforce equity, and support student success. We oversee the implementation of the Strong Workforce Program (SWP) and Perkins V Title 1C, ensuring alignment with districtwide goals, statewide accountability metrics, and regional economic priorities.

Our work emphasizes:

  • Equitable access to high-wage, high-demand career pathways
  • Regional collaboration aligned with the Bay Area Community College Consortium (BACCC)
  • Industry-informed programs, advisory boards, and employer engagement
  • Transparent budget processes and compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Student-centered workforce development, including career readiness and job placement
